Chink-a-chink

Chink-a-chink

Chink-a-chink, is a magic trick in which four small items arranged in square formation are moved around a close-up mat with just the wave of the magician's bare hands. Objects appear to cross the mat without the magician's hands crossing the mat. Objects jump from corner to corner, usually ending up all together. Small objects most commonly used for the trick are coins, corks, dice, bottle caps and brass weights.

The trick was first published in Edwin Sach's book Sleight of Hand in 1877, and utilized four sugar cubes.

Magician Doug Henning performed a Chink-a-chink using sea shells on "The Muppet Show" in the 1970s. Prefabricated Chink-a-chink sets that include four small objects and a storage box are available at magic stores.
