The Right Reverend Arthur William Thomson Perowne was an eminent Anglican Bishop in the first half of the 20th century [ [http://www.npg.org.uk/live/search/person.asp?LinkID=mp50492 NPG details] ] . He was born into a distinguished ecclesiastical family [His father was John James Stewart Perowne sometime Bishop of Worcester > “Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] on 13 June 1867 and educated at Haileybury and King's College, Cambridge ["University Intelligence. Oxford. Feb. 4. (Official Appointments and Notices) " The Times Monday, Feb 06, 1893; pg. 8; Issue 33867; col D] . Ordained in 1894 he began his ministry as a curate at Hartlebury [http://myancestors.wordpress.com/2007/09/19/arthur-william-thomson-perowne-1867-1948/ My ancestors] ] after which he was Vicar of "St Philip and St James Hallow", Rural Dean of Edgbaston ["St George's Church Edgbaston" 1838 - 1998 Harkness,J.C/Pinkess,J.R.H: Birmingham St George's Edgbaston PCC, July 1998] ,Prebendary of Exeter and finally (before his elevation to the Episcopate) Archdeacon of Plymouth. Initially the first Bishop of Bradford, he was translated to Worcester in 1931 ["New Bishop Of Worcester The Times Monday, Feb 09, 1931; pg. 12; Issue 45742; col F"] . A keen fisherman [ Who’s Who (ibid)] , in retirement he lived at Gloucester and died on 9 April 1948.
