Manmingongdonghue is a congress of mass people in Korean Empire, 1898. The congress is held by Independence Club.

Activity

Manmingongdongheo wass firstly held in March 10th, 1898, critisizing an intervention of Russia. Ten thausand Seoul citizens attended the congress. Within ten days, the Korean Empire governmnet agreed decisions of Manmingongdonghoe and Russia conceded to korean order. The congress grew more and more, and insisted on various rights of people and protection of concessions from the great Powers.
In October 12th, The congress succeded to found reformative government which is composed of innovative officials such as Mihn Yong-hwan and Park Jeong-yang. The new government agreed to establish a national assembly. However pro-Russians and conservatives who hated Manmingongdonghoe, spreaded a rumor that the congress will revolute and expel Emperor Gojong. Gojong surprised and ordered the troops to dissolve the congress.

Manmingongdonghoe spreaded thoughts of human rights, democracy and patrioitism among korean people.
