- Aleksei Zerchaninov
Aleksei Zerchaninov (1848-1933) was an
Russia n of Orthodox religion who converted to Byzantine Catholicism. Being a son of an Russian Orthodox priest, Zerchaninov converted himself in 1896 which led to his imprisonment in a monastery, from which he was liberated in 1901. After theRussian Catholic Church 's legalization in 1905, Zerchaninov became, along withIvan Deubner and Eustachios Susalev, a priest of his native church united with Rome celebrating Mass in Saint Petersburg. In 1908, Father Zerchaninov was named Administrator for Russian Catholics. After 1923, Zerchaninov went into in exile and passed away in 1933.External Links
