Aaron Hillegass

Aaron Hillegass (born 1969) is the author of "Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X", the most popular introductory text for Cocoa developers, and the proprietor of the Big Nerd Ranch, a provider of Macintosh software developer training.

After working with the NEXTSTEP operating system as a university graduate, he developed NEXTSTEP application software for Wall Street. This led to teaching others how to develop software for NEXTSTEP and a job at NeXT. However, he was then contacted by Apple to help train their software developers in the Cocoa application programming interface (API) that had evolved from the NEXTSTEP API. This experience led him to close down his dot-com business and focus on teaching Cocoa development and Cocoa consulting projects.
