The International School of Helsinki is an international school in Helsinki, Finland. It was founded as the "British Preparatory School" in 1973. Education is geared towards the International Baccalaureate and it has offered all three levels of the IB program (primary, middle and secondary) since 2003. Currently the school has around 300 pupils from K1 - Grade 12. The pupils come from all over the world, and only about one-third of the student body is Finnish, as well as around one-quarter American.
Administration
As of 2008, the Headmaster of ISH was Robert Woods. Orlando Pola-Rivera was the Lower School Principal and Debbie Brook was the Upper School Principal. The school is administered by a Board of Governors elected by parents to two-year terms. The Chairperson of the Board of Governors was Francisca Brunner. Other members of the Board of Governors include Anni Lamminen de Miguel (Vice-chair), Petri Korpivaara, Tim McGuiggan, Karen French, Francesca Ravetta Del Brenna, Ismo Bergroth, Anna Casse and Mary Ann Silva de Espinosa.
Population
The estimated number of students at ISH is around 320. There are around 20 substitute teachers with around 70 teachers.
