Kuhala

Kuhala, a Hawaiian high chiefess and Princess of Maui, was the maternal ancestress of Kalokuokamaile the Great, founder of the House of Kalokuokamaile.

She was the daughter of Lonohonuakini, King of Maui and Queen Kalanikauanakinilani. Her mother Kalanikauanakinilani was Hāna descent. Kuhala was the youngest of the four children. Her siblings: were Kaulahea II, heir apparent and eventually King of Maui, Lonomakaihonua, ancestor of Robert Kalanihiapo Wilcox and the celebrated bard Keaulumoku; and Kalaniionmaiheuila, Queen Consort of Maui, sister-wife of Kaulahea II. She married the High Chief Kaneikapookapuoluna, and the only child of Kuhala and Kaneikapookapuoluna was the High Chief Kauhiokalani.
