Poplar Eyot

Poplar Eyot or Poplar Ait is an island in the River Thames in England near the villages of Shiplake, Oxfordshire and Wargrave, Berkshire. It is on the reach above Marsh Lock. [Fred. S. Thacker "The Thames Highway: Volume II Locks and Weirs" 1920 - republished 1968 David & Charles]

The island is wooded and inaccessible except by boat. It is in the middle of a chain lying off the large houses on the Shiplake bank.
