Henry Le Fanu

The Most Rev Henry Frewen Le Fanu (1870-1946) was an eminent ["Order Of St. John Of Jerusalem Promotions And Appointments (Official Appointments and Notices)" The Times Wednesday, Jun 24, 1936; pg. 19; Issue 47409; col E] Australian Bishop. [ [http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A100057b.htmAustralian Dictionary of Biography Online edition] ] Born in Dublin and educated at Haileybury and Keble College, Oxford and ordained in 1894 [,The Times, Tuesday, Dec 24, 1895; pg. 14; Issue 34768; col C "London Ordinations"] he began his ecclesiastical career as a curate in Poplar. [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X ] From 1899 to 1901 he was Chaplain to the Bishop of Rochester after which he held a similar post at Guy's Hospital. Emigrating to Australia he was successively Canon Residentiary then Archdeacon of St John's Cathedral, Brisbane, Coadjutor Bishop of Brisbane, Archbishop of Perth and Primate of Australia.
