† Appearances (Goals).Charles Clark (born 1 January 1881) was an English footballer who played as a centre half.
He began his career with Everton and made his first team debut in 1901.[1] He made a further six appearances in two seasons with the club, scoring once, before being transferred to Plymouth Argyle.[1] He was appointed captain by manager Frank Brettell, a former Everton player, and led the club to the Western League title in 1905, their first as a professional club. He played at Home Park for six years and was a popular captain.[2] After making 272 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals, he joined Crystal Palace in 1909,[3] where he played 32 times in his one season with the club.[4]
