Richard Clarke (radio personality)

Richard Clarke (born 1978) is a British radio presenter and DJ.

tudent radio

At Royal Holloway, University of London he co-operated with future BBC journalist Ed Harry, wrestling promoter Dean Ayass, future Digital Radio industrialist Matt Deegan and a diverse number of fellow students to create Insanity, a student radio station which soon became a major player in the Student Radio Association, and went on to manage Insanity for Restricted Service Licence broadcasts.

Post-graduation

After graduating, Richard was elected on to the Executive of the Student Radio Association as a Development Officer, also attaining this position within the Radio Academy. He also worked in Greater London as a DJ and a freelance Radio Producer.

Career

CFM

Richard got a break in mainstream radio when he signed to present the Evening Show on CFM Radio in Carlisle, so he upped sticks from London to Cumbria. Richard impressed and was moved to the afternoon drive time.

Wyvern FM

He was then offered the Mid-Morning Show at Wyvern FM in his home city of Worcester. Richard also kept up his love of live DJing at local nightclubs, often playing to sell-outs.

Trent FM

A further move to Nottingham followed to present drive time on Trent FM [ http://arts.guardian.co.uk/features/story/0,,1192211,00.html] led him to meet up with now co-star Lucy Horobin to present ‘Richard and Lucy’ [http://www.rockfm.co.uk/showdj.asp?DJID=36974] .

Key 103

Richard and Lucy is now broadcast on Key 103 [http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/music-radio-stations/key-103/1080123/] , the biggest station in Manchester, presenting the evening show - In Demand Evening (a Bauer Radio Simulcast Show) which is broadcast across numerous radio stations in Northern England [http://www.mediauk.com/radio/presenters/starting-with/c] ] [ http://www.rhul.ac.uk/Messages/press/Documents/Media-Coverage-March-2007.pdf] and the nationwide DAB station The Hits, and Richard also presents the Saturday lunchtime show solo. Richard has been invited to cover the nationwide Hit40uk when regular presenter Lucio is absent, the first time on 24 June 2007.

Other activities

Outside of Radio, Richard has dabbled in Web Development with his own Trickster Media company and is a keen runner, having completed the Great North Run and the Great Manchester Run.
