Kakarlamudi

Kakarlamundi is a village in Vemuru mandal, in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, South India. It has a population of 2500 (2001 census). It is located convert|25|mi east of Guntur City. Krishna River canal flow through Kakarlamudi making it a part of the rice bowl of Andhra Pradesh. Kakarlamudi is a junction connecting tenali, Vijayawada, Repalle .Kakarlamudi is known for its rich cultural and literary legacy. It has produced many famous poets, software engineers and lecturers, teachers and politicians. Kakarlamudi has contributed a major share of artists to Telugu stage drama.

Origin of name

There is a version saying- Kakarlamudi name was basically originated from Brahmin community, who were highly intelligent and also having skills in warfare and administration capabilities, were chosen to help Kshatryias at the time of desperate need in defending the country. Later they were migrated to various parts of the nation.Most of the Brahmins in Kakarlamudi,chadalavada villages belong to Kakarlamudi surname Brahmin group, they followers of Adi Sankaracharya. Kakarlamudi Brahmin (~600 BC) was one of the earliest lawmakers of south India who lived on the banks of River Krishna. Boudhayana, Parasara, Yajnvalkya sutras and other laws were also important in the past, e.g., in the courts of Srikrishnadevaraya. The Kakarlamudi Brahmins in Andhra Pradesh can be grouped into two major divisions formed about a thousand to about 700 years ago (most probably during Kakatiya rule).Currently Naidu (Kapu) population dominating this place.

Climate

Kakarlamudi is located 25 km from the sea coast. It is generally hot and humid during summer with temperatures ranging between 32-45 C. Winters are milder with temperatures between 15 and 23 C. Heavy rains expected between July and Nov during monsoon time.

Geography

Kakarlamudi is located at 14.25° N 80.58° E. [1] It has an average elevation of 11 metres (36 feet). Vijayawada, Guntur, and Tenali , Kakarlamudi are almost equidistant from each other, thirty to forty kilometers apart.The present Member of the Legislative Assembly from Kakarlamudi, vemuru Constituency is SATISH PAL RAJ, who was elected in 2004. Kakarlamudi is also known for its rich culture.

Economy

The village thrives on trade and agriculture. The regions around the village have fertile soil and are irrigated by the Krishna river water and its canals. Major crops include Corn, Sugar Cane, Rice, Turmeric, and Red chillies . The main market conducts business in agricultural produce and traditional wares. Kakarlamudi is famous for HYBISCUS CANNABINUS (GONGURA) and fresh vegetables.With its pivotal location between the commercial towns of Teanli, Gunter and Vijayawada, many residents in and around Kakarlamudi mainly depend on them for livelihood. The town holds a huge middle class, making up more than 90% of the total population. Major income source is Agriculture with two to three crops around the year.
