David Reilly (
May 5 1971 –October 16 2005 ), as singer and songwriting/production partner in the electro-rock bandGod Lives Underwater (GLU), spent the better part of the 1990s as a producer and touring artist, first signed byRick Rubin toAmerican Recordings in 1993.American went on to release GLU's self titled EP and debut album "Empty", which spawned minor radio hits "
No More Love " and "All Wrong ", the former as a single from the soundtrack to the hitKeanu Reeves film "Johnny Mnemonic (film) ".GLU then made a move to 1500 /A&M, who went on to release their second full-length "
Life in the So-Called Space Age ", which generated the hit, "From Your Mouth ". The single enjoyed play on alternative rock stations andMTV alike, and saw the band hitting the road for several years of mostly sold out shows alongside notable artists includingKMFDM ,Korn ,Stabbing Westward ,Life of Agony , Filter, Far,Type O Negative ,Genitorturers ,Deftones ,No Doubt , and Sublime.In addition to his repertoire as a writer and vocalist, Reilly was a multi-instrumentalist and producer with synthesis/sampling knowledge, and with his GLU partner
Jeff Turzo stayed busy with other production andremix projects as well, including remixes forSkinny Puppy ,Rob Zombie and Messiah, and organizing and contributing to 1998's "For the Masses : A Tribute To Depeche Mode", which also featured tracks fromDeftones ,Smashing Pumpkins ,Failure ,The Cure andMonster Magnet .2004 saw the release of GLU's "
Up Off The Floor ", released worldwide in June onMegaforce /Locomotive . 2004 also saw a short solo acoustic tour by Reilly, mostly along the east coast (including stops inCleveland , Akron,Detroit ,Boston , &New York City ), in support of his "Inside" (which due to timing issues actually wasn't released until the end of the tour). 2005 was to see Reilly's return to touring in support of unreleased "How Humans R(x)" album.David Reilly [http://death-watch.com/index.php?cat=showstory&id=175 died] unexpectedly at 5:15am on October 16, 2005 from complications of a
coma brought on by pain medication for an abscessed tooth. He was 34 years old. Tour dates were scheduled at the time of his death, and the album was left unfinished, which was tentatively scheduled to be finished and released in March 2006 with guest vocalists filling in on a few incomplete tracks.Releases
