"Return to Sleepaway Camp" is the sequel to the cult classic Sleepaway Camp. It was written and directed by Robert Hiltzik, the creator of the original film. The original's star, Felissa Rose, makes a cameo appearance in the film and assisted with casting. Paul DeAngelo and Jonathan Tiersten also return in the sequel, with Vincent Pastore from "The Sopranos" starring as the camp's owner. The film also contains one of the last unseen performances by Isaac Hayes who plays "Charlie the Chef." Members of the band CKY are slated to have cameo appearances as counselors in the movie. The sequel wrapped filming in 2003 and was scheduled to be released in the early part of 2006, but has been delayed several times due to unsatisfactory CGI effects. The executive producer of the film, Tom van Dell, claimed that the corrected CGI was completed as of December 2006, but the director, Robert Hiltzik confirmed that it needed more work to meet his expectations. By 2007 top compositors and CGI personal had been hired by van Dell to correct the FX. In January 2008, it was learned that all of the work was finished with the film and that the producers had secured distribution through Magnolia / Magnet. The film's U.S. release date is November 4, 2008 with a release in all international markets to follow by the end of 2008.

Plot summary

Ronnie (Paul DeAngelo), a former Counselor from the original Sleepaway Camp (Camp Arawak), is having trouble shaking off the 20-year-old horrific slaughter that occurred at Camp Arawak. When bodies start appearing everywhere, everyone becomes a suspect from camp owner Frank (Vincent Pastore) to former Camp Arawak camper Ricky (Jonathan Tiersten), who mysteriously works nearby, and the local sherrif who tries to solve the mystery. Each one suspects that this has something to do with the bloodbath that was thought to have ended 20 years prior.
