Appcasting

Appcasting

Appcasting is a term for the practice of distributing software updates and syndicating release notes for new software applications using the attribute of RSS 2.0. The term was allegedly coined by Frasier Speirs of Connected Flow in 2005.

Since then, Adobe Systems has developed the "Appcasting RSS" module, a proposed standard for appcasting that is currently in use for applications developed using Adobe Flex.
