- Essex Middle School
Essex Middle School teaches grades 6-8 in Essex, Vermont. The grades are taught by "teams" of teachers, groups of teachers who work together with the same students. There is also a team for students with rough family situations and such called the Adventurer team. Other classes are: Art, Music, Family Consumer Science, Design and Technology Education, Foreign Languages, and Advisory. Essex Middle School has many team sports. They are: Field Hockey (girls), soccer (boys and girls), basketball (boys and girls), softball (girls), and baseball (boys). If one wants to start a new sports it has to start out as a club. In the 2007-2008 school year, a rugby club was started. There is also Drama club, guitar club, and many other extra curricular activities.
Core classes
On each team, the classes taught are: Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, and Science. Some teams don't have 4 teachers, so other teachers overlap. Also, in seventh and eighth grade, some students are allowed (but not required) to take Algebra. Very few seventh graders do, but now for eighth graders it is open to anyone.
