- PyroLance North America
PyroLance is a revolutionary firefighting system that cools and contains fires andfire gases. Utilizing a combination of high-pressure water and a proprietary nonsparkingabrasive material, the PyroLance pierces exterior structures, and blanketsthe thermal layers inside with a fog of atomized water. Because the PyroLanceintroduces its fine mist of water through a small opening, a rapid reduction intemperature occurs without introducing large amounts of oxygen, greatly reducing thelikelihood of flashover or backdraft.
The PyroLance can be used either independently with its own diesel poweredengine, or through a truck’s PTO unit. It consists of a highpressurepump unit, water supply, abrasive supply, hose and hand-held lance.
During piercing operations, the proprietary abrasive aggregate is carried with thehigh velocity water, allowing the PyroLance to quickly create a pea-size hole inany material. Once the opening has been made, a second trigger quickly allowsthe operator to switch to plain water and/or water with foam. Starting the flow ofwater turns the PyroLance into a confinement tool injecting its high-pressure fogstream directly into the thermal layer while the operator safely remains in aprotected position outside.
