Therese Hughes

Therese Hughes, an experienced hairdresser, with over seventeen years of experience in Newry, County Down, has been awarded a MBE in the 2008 Honours List. She owned several hairdressing salons before deciding to exclusively focus her expertise in providing wigs and hairpieces. She provides a specialist service for patients suffering hair loss as a result of treatment for cancer, alopecia and for various other reasons. Therese felt compelled to launch this service in Northern Ireland after watching a woman going through the distress of hair loss following chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. Therese was nominated by the Mac Millan Foundation for the award in recognition of her work with patients in The City Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Therese has now extended her service to the Republic of Ireland in conjunction with the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre [ [http://www.gkcancersupport.com Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre] ] in Drogheda, County Louth. Therese has recently launched her new website, Wigs Ireland [ [http://www.wigs-ireland.ie Wigs Ireland] ] with details of her services and samples of her wig collections.
