Henry Beaumont Herts

Henry Beaumont Herts (1871–1933) was an American architect.

Herts was born in New York City and was an 1893 graduate of Columbia University. He studied architecture in Europe L'Ecole des Beaux Arts, paris and at the Universities of Rome and Heidelberg.

Herts designed many theaters, including the Schubert, the New Amsterdam, the Fulton (later Helen Hayes), the Gaiety, the Liberty, the Booth, the Lyceum and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He perfected the cantilevered arch construction that enabled theater architects to support balcociies without the use of columns.
