Ladislav Kubík (born 1946) is a contemporary Czech-American
composer . His style is associated with other post-warEastern European composers, such asKrzysztof Penderecki andWitold Lutoslawski .He graduated from the
Prague Academy of Music , receiving hisMaster's Degree in 1970 and the title "Aspirante," a degree considered equivalent to theDoctor of Musical Arts . He has previously taught at thePrague Conservatory ,Charles University in Prague, and theUniversity of South Florida . He has served as Professor of Composition at theFlorida State University College of Music inTallahassee since the 1990-91 academic year.Prizes and honors
