- S Persei
S Persei
S Persei is a Red Supergiant located in the Double Cluster in Persueus, North from the Cluster NGC869. It is a representative of a family whose period of variation are far less certain then those of Miras. S Persei is a semi-regular variable star. Although this particular Variable star has too many individual properties that make it irregular in terms of an average variable star.
Many of the bright variable stars we estimate belong to this same class of semi-regulars. In fact, a glance through a variable star cataloug will show many such stars, with variations ranging from 5th to 7th magnitude. The reason these stars appear so bright is because they are very large Super Red-giants, the term being no exaggeration, since S Persei is as much as 1000 times the sun's diameter.
