Enrique Arturo Diemecke (b.
Mexico ) is a Mexican conductor, violinist and composer of German descent. He comes from a family of musicians ofLeipzig . He began to play the violin at six and studied in theCatholic University inWashington D.C and inPierre Monteaux School underCharles Bruck . Then he studied violin withHenryk Szeryng . At the age of nine he began to play the french horn, piano and percussions. He lived inMonterrey in his early years.In 1983 he won a competition prize for conductors.
He is music director of the
Long Beach Simphony inCalifornia and of theNational Symphony Orchestra ofMexico , principal conductor of theOrchestre National de Montpelier and principal guest conductor of theOrchestra Filarmonia di teatro Colón , artistic director of theNational Opera of Mexico and music director of thePalacio de Bellas Artes theatre in Mexico. He is regular visitor of many orchestras in the US and Europe. He has a close relationship with theBBC Symphony since his debut in1995 . He has many recordings with theNational Symphony of Mexico forSONY of music bySilvestre Revueltas ,Carlos Chavez andHeitor Villa-Lobos . He also has recordings with theRoyal Philharmonic Orchestra and with theSimon Bolivar Simphony inVenezuela forDORIAN records. Recently he made his debut with theRoyal Liverpool Philharmonic and in theWashington Opera in2005 .In 2001, he appeared for the first time with the
Malaysia Philharmonic and theOrchestre National de Lyon and in 2002 he made his Prom debut with the BBCSO. In that year he won a Grammy latin award in Mexico for the recording ofCarlos Chavez piano and violin concertos.Since 1988, Enrique Diemecke has been the conductor of the Flint (Michigan) Symphony Orchestra which performs at Flint's Whiting Auditorium.Fact|date=October 2008 He is a frequent guest on Flint television and radio programs and local residents enjoy his passion for his music, his engaging personality, and delightful sense of humor.Fact|date=October 2008
