Mirza Taqikhan Raf'at Tabrizi

Mirza Taqikhan Raf'at Tabrizi was born in 1889 in Tabriz. He was a poet, writer, and journalist. He is known as the first poet of modern Persian poetry. He has poems in Turkish, Persian, and French languages. He had been the chief editor of "Tajaddod" (Modernity) Newspaper and published modern social and literary thoughts there. He funded a literary school named "Raf'at School" that poets and writers like Habib Saher, Ahmad Khorram, Yahyamirza Danesh, and others had been the followers of that School.He died in 1920 in Tabriz in his 31 years of old. Under the political situation of those times many of his poetic works were destroyed and there are very limited works of him are at hand now.
