Shkodran Metaj (born 5 February 1988 in Studenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is an Dutch/Albanian footballer who currently plays for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Groningen and the Kosovo national team.

Career

Metaj was born in Studenica in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Though, he has the Dutch nationality. He started to play football by amateur club VV Froombosch, where FC Groningen scouted him, and signed him for the youth-team. Metaj played for several national youth-teams, like Netherlands U16, Netherlands U17 and Netherlands U21, but he hasn't played any big tournaments. Just before the 2007/2008 Eredivisie season started, he was picked to play for FC Groningen's main squad. On Sunday 2 September, 2007, in the away-match against Ajax Amsterdam, he made his debut. Because of Metaj's quick development, he signed a contract, which will keep him in Groningen until 2012.
