Quix*o*tic

Quix*o*tic was a Washington, D.C. rock band active from 1997 to 2002.

History

Quix*o*tic was originally made up of guitarist/vocalist Christina Billotte, drummer/vocalist Mira Billotte, and bassist/vocalist Brendan Majewski. The bassist Mick Barr replaced Brendan in 2001 after Brendan's departure. Christina played in the bands Autoclave and Slant 6, both on the Dischord label before forming Quix*o*tic. Brendan Majewski was a member of Murder. Mike Barr was featured in Orthrelm and Crom-Tech.

Their first album Night for Day was released on Ixor Stix in 1999. Production was handled by Guy Piciotto of Fugazi fame and Craig Bowen. The album features a cover of The Miracles 1962 tune "What's So Good About Goodbye".

The second album Mortal Mirror was relased on the Kill Rock Stars label in 2002. The title track and Masterpeaceful are instrumentals. Covers include Aaron Neville's "Tell It Like It Is", Billy Stewart's "Sitting in the Park" and Black Sabbath's "Lord of This World".

Mira went on to form the psychedelic folk rock group White Magic. Christina played guitar and sang with the Casual Dots.
