Car Design News is an online magazine for the international automotive design community, published by Car Design News Ltd.Car Design News was founded by Brett Patterson, an automotive designer with General Motors Europe Design (in Rüsselsheim, Germany) in November 1999. It was the first online magazine to cover car design specifically, the field previously only being covered by the bi-monthly print magazines Car Styling (Japan) and Auto&Design (Italy). Over the past nine years Car Design News has grown to be considered as one of the leading references for the car design industry, with subscribers including most major automotive manufacturers.

Based in London, UK, since 2005, the editorial team includes design industry professionals and design educators, with contributors worldwide. Updated daily, Car Design News provides news stories on new production and concept car designs, car design reviews, photo galleries from major international motor shows, coverage of design exhibitions and competitions, discussion forums, jobs listings, and online car designer portfolios.

Beginning in 2006, Car Design News has awarded The Car Design of the Year, based on voting by design industry professionals and website readers.In 2006 the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Aston Martin DB9 won the top three slots in a survey that queried 1,000 automotive designers and car design students on their favorite current production car design.
