Mirza Mohammed was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. [http://www.dod.mil/news/May2006/d20060515%20List.pdf list of prisoners (.pdf)] , "US Department of Defense", May 15 2006] Mirza Mohammed's Guantanamo detainee ID number is 644.American intelligence analysts estimate Mirza Mohammed was born in 1964, in Gorband, Afghanistan.

Transfer from Guantanamo

Mirza Mohammed's name was not included on the official list of the names of the detainees whose classification as "enemy combatants" were reviewed by Combatant Status Review Tribunals. [http://www.dod.mil/pubs/foi/detainees/detainee_list.pdf list of prisoners (.pdf)] , "US Department of Defense", April 20 2006] The Tribunals started in July 2004, implying that Mirza Mohammed was transferred from Guantanamo prior to July 2004.

The "New York Times" reports that Mirza Mohammed 's brother, Wali Mohammed, a farmer from
Ghorband District Parvan Province, 40 miles north of Kabul, was waiting in Kabul, hoping that Mirza was one of the 18 Afghans the USA repatriated on March 22 2003.cite news

] Wali said he had received a letter, through the Red Cross, where Mirza said he had been told he would be released soon.

According to Wali Mirza was forcibly conscripted by the Taliban, as their regime collapsed, just five days prior to his capture by the Northern Alliance. Wali said that Mirza was 30 years old, and supported a wife and two children.

Release from Pakistani custody

Afghan news reports state that Mirza Mohammed was released from Pakistani custody together with six other men, including three senior Taliban.
