Diesector

Diesector

Diesector was a superheavyweight combat robot. Constructed by team Mutant Robots, it competed in Battlebots many times. There, it enjoyed a reign of success and was the superheavyweight champion more than once. Its builder is Donald Hutson. Hutson also had a heavyweight named Tazbot.

Season 1 was Diesector's first time in the competition. It had the jaws and two very small pick axes that did a minute amount of damage. Its opponent was Grendal. Grendal was basically a large bulky robot with one huge pick axe. The axe was lightning quick when it struck but took time to bring it back into a ready position. Diesector lost the fight. Its jaws were too heavy and slow to be of much use and Diesector found itself against the spike strip and Grendal got in a couple of good shots on the disabled Diesector.

Season 2 was a winning season for Diesector. Its pick axes were upgraded but still weren't very effective. A wedge in back was added. Diesector's final fight in season two was against Atomic Wedgie. The robot was basically a tread powered wedge with spinning trifoil blades on the side. It had suffered a lot of torture in its last couple of fights. The whole round it fought with only one side of its treads working. Diesector easily overcame it and won the championship in the superheavyweight division.

In the third season Donald upgraded Diesector's pick axes to hammers. Here they proved to be a little more useful but still not much damage. Diesector's reign as champion came to an end as his opponent in the semi finals, Vladiator, proved to be more powerful and much faster than Diesector. Diesector held his own, but Vladiator had several good slams. Diesector spent most of the fight on its back but that didn't affect it since Diesector was designed to fight on either side. Near the end of the match Diesector got Vladiator under the pulverizer, and Vladiator took several heavy hits but wasn't enough to give Diesector the win. The score went 24-21. Vladiator went on to win the division.

In season 4 Diesector again had its hammers upgraded with much heavier material. In fact, the dents they left were visible on the robots it faced. It made it to the semi finals. Its opponent was New Cruelty, an eight wheeled robot with a plow in front. The robot was made to simply push the other robot around at high speed and had a flat plate along the ground to prevent wedges from getting underneath it. Diesector never had anything going for it. The hammers were always landing but the jaws could not get under the robot. Mid-way through the fight, New Cruelty managed to get under Diesector and gave a piggy back ride to the pulverizer. Diesector took numerous shots before it worked its way off it's opponent's back. New Cruelty won a 24-21 decision. New Cruelty went on to the finals to face Toro, a robot designed to toss the 325 pound superheavyweights nearly 5 feet in the air. It's middleweight and heavyweight brothers were T-Minus and The Matador, respectively, all armed with powerful flipping weapons. Toro won the fight, winning the division.

Season 5 was a season of revenge. Diesector had be given hammers again. Surpassing any of its last designs, it was given a plow in the back rather than a wedge. It took on New Cruelty again in the semi finals and won the fight. It then met Vladiator in the final round. The fight was the same push and shove and slam match as before. Both bots flipped each other over a few times. One slam into the wall caused the lexan and plexiglass of the Battlebox to break and the judges stopped the match for the crowd's safety. The match was scored and Diesector won with a 26-19 victory. Since then, Battlebots was taken off of Comedy Central due to low ratings.

Design

Diesector's body was almost, but not quite, a steel rectangle. It has a sturdy purple steel frame to keep it in shape. Jutting out from the large sides are four wheels, two on each side. It's primary weapon were tough hydralic jaws that were located on the front. Diesector also had a pair of 180 degree hammers, located on the sides between the wheels. These, combined with the jaws, not only allowed Diesector to drag its opponent into the arena hazards, but also lets it hold the other robot in place and hit it with the hammers.
