Philipp Jakob Riotte

Philipp Jakob Riotte (St. Wendel (Saarland), August 16, 1776 - Vienna, 1856) was a German composer who lived primarily in Vienna. In the 1820s, his works were among the most-performed at the Theater an der Wien. A contemporary of Ludwig van Beethoven, very few of his works remain in the active reportoire today.

Compositions

He was the composer of the thirty-fourth of the second-published set of Diabelli Variations. His compositions also include a symphony (no. 1 in C, op. 25)cite web|title=Riotte Worklist|url=http://www.classical-composers.org/comp/riotte|accessdate=2008-09-11] , a clarinet concerto (op. 28 in B-flat), and a flute concerto (op. 4 in G).
