Plot

Cornelia Hilyard is a well-to-do poetess and overly domineering mother who, handicapped due to an injury, must use a personal elevator in order to get around her three story house. On an extremely hot summer day, an electrical shortage stops her elevator, leaving her helplessly stranded between floors. Over the period of an afternoon her home is invaded by a group of sadistic thieves, a prostitute, and a psychotic drunkard as she if forced to watch her home and possessions stolen and destroyed.
