Alphons Bellesheim

Alphons Bellesheim (December 16, 1839 Monschau, Germany - February 5, 1912 Aachen, Germany) was a church historian. He also reviewed and collected books.

About The Name

The last name Bellesheim is French and German, meaning "Beautiful Home" (Belle: Beautiful in French, and Heim: Home in German). There is one known branch in the Americas. The immigrant was Joseph Bellesheim. He was born April 2, 1829 in Stromberg, Germany. His parentage is unknown, but he may have had a brother Hugo, who was a merchant and sailor. Hugo was born around 1840 in Germany.Joseph is first found in America in 1859 when he married Anna Zibelin of Bad Dürkheim, Germany. Joseph and Anna had ten children.
