Mbere

Mbere: Mbere was the creator god of Fens (western Bantu) mythology.

The Creation of Man

According to legend, Mbere's first creation was the lizard, whom he put in the Great Big Sea for eight days. On the fifth day, Mbere looked and saw a lizard. Mbere looked again on the eighth day, and the lizard emerged from the water as man. "Thank you," said the man to Mbere, and the first human was born.
