He is an officer of 1985 batch of IRS and hails from the city of Rajahmunndry in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He has done M.A. (Applied Economics) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Before joining the NADT in 2007, he was working as DIT (International Taxation), Kolkata. He served in the Department in various fields like assessment, investigation, vigilance, central, computer operations, transfer pricing etc. Earlier, he also worked in the training sector as Assistant Director at DTRTI, Bangalore. He has done in-depth study of the public relations in the Income Tax Department and practical aspects of search and seizure assessments. He visited Canada in 1997 to attend ADB sponsored course on capacity building of revenue administration. Apart from being an economist by training and a taxman by profession, he is a progressive poet and enthusiastic social activist by inclination. He is a renowned writer of Telugu literature. He authored an anthology of Poems, "Poola Vaana" (Shower of flowers) and wrote a biography; "Mana Vavilala" on the life of late Padmabhushan Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah, a renowned freedom fighter. Recipient of Dr. V. S. Krishna Fellowship from Andhra University, Waltair and special incentive scholarship from the Directorate of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, he was awarded Dr. Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah Puraskar by Rotary Club of Rajahmundry in 2003 for his outstanding services to society. His essay on Padmabhushan Dr. Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah has been included in the non-detailed Telugu text for tenth class by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2001. He was the executive committee member of Hyderabad Study Circle and also served as honorary secretary of the study circle. He is also invited as guest faculty by the AP Study Circle and A.P. Study Circle for B. Cs to train candidates aspiring to enter civil services. He is the founder of SAMATA SEVA SAMITI, a voluntary organisation for youth development. He is instrumental in starting the A.P. Study Circle for B. Cs. at Rajahmundry by the A.P. Government in 2003. He is also life member of Amarjeevi Potti Sreeramulu Memorial Society, Chennai and a founder Member of Telugu Samiti, Hyderabad.
His wife, Mrs. Kusuma Kumari is a home maker and his daughter, Ms. Soujanya is doing her B.Sc. (Bio Technology).
