- Canberra A-League Bid
A
Canberra based consortium led byTransACT CEO Ivan Slavich is determined to apply for and receive a license to compete in theHyundai A-League , commencing in the 2010-11 season. The first formal step in this process is to present an application to the A-League License Review Committee in August 2008. Canberra is one of ten bids expected byFootball Federation Australia for up to four available licenses, but is strongly positioned to succeed and has support from the highest levels within Football Federation Australia. If Canberra is unsuccessful in this round of license applications, it is unlikely there will be another opportunity for 10 years or more. The
ACT alone has almost 50,000 people - boys and girls, men and women - directly involved in football.Cooma ,Goulburn ,Wagga Wagga ,Batemans Bay and other towns all have passionate football communities. A local team provides Canberra's younger players with a pathway for pursuing their football dreams. It also gives fans of all ages a team to get behind which represents their community/region as well as the opportunity to attend live national and international matches in Canberra.Forums
