Garden Gnome Liberation Front

Garden Gnome Liberation Front

The Garden Gnome Liberation Front (GGLF) is a French organisation that claims to stand for the liberation of garden gnomes. It also claims members in a number of other countries throughout the world.

The Garden Gnome Liberation Front gained worldwide attention in the period 1997-2000. The leader of that group was charged in absentia with stealing over 150 garden gnomes over a period of several years. The group struck again under the guise of the "Garden Gnome Liberation Front" during a garden show in 2000. The Organisation has subsequently gained sporadic media attention, such as the case in the central Limousin region of France [http://www.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/2006-11-03-gnome_x.htm Nearly 80 stolen garden gnomes discovered in central France]
