Silvia Neid (born
May 2 ,1964 inWalldürn ) is a former professionalsoccer player, and, since July 2005, has served as the head coach of theGermany women's national football team after having been assistant toTina Theune-Meyer for some time.Together with
Doris Fitschen andMartina Voss , she is considered the most successful German women's soccer player, having won seven national titles and six DFB trophies.Her team also won the
UEFA Women's Championship three times (in 1989, 1991 and 1995), and finished the World Championships in 1995 asrunner-up . She never played for the winning team in theOlympic Games or the World Championships.Prior to becoming head coach, she coached the under-19 German women's national football team, winning the World Championships with them in 2004, and finishing the Women's Championship as runner-up.
