Lavinia Agache (born February 11, 1968) is a retired Romanian gymnast. She was a member of the Romanian gold medal-winning team at the 1984 Olympics, an individual Olympic bronze medalist on the vault, and the 1983 World Championships silver medalist on the uneven bars and vault.

Early life and career

Agache was born on February 11, 1968 in Caiute. During her career as an international gymnast, she competed under a passport listing her year of birth as 1967. The falsification was suspected, and reported on, in the press as early as 1981: Agache reportedly told fellow competitors at another meet that she was 13, but turned up at the 1981 World Championships claiming to be older. Agache confirmed her 1968 birthdate to "International Gymnast" magazine in 2000.
