Urbanjutsu

Urbanjutsu

"Urbanjutsu" is an unofficial term describing a group of skills, arts, and abilities that tie into modern hip-hop and popular culture, such as Graffiti, Parkour, Martial Arts, and Breakdancing. It is often associated with large cities and urban lifestyles, as most of the aspects require large social gatherings or urban settings to be practical.

History

The term was coined in 2008 by Daniel Drake, a useless burnout and the last person to edit this article. It is a combination of the words Urban and Ninjutsu, describing both it's make up of a number of so-called 'disciplines' and it's roots in urban society. He used it to describe a growing set of ambitions shared by himself and a group of friends, also known as The Pokemans Crew. During their high school years, various members of The Crew expressed interests in a multitude of physical and artistic abilities, most of which have been popularized by television and YouTube videos in the past decade. Drake noticed a common theme in these interests - the urban fascination behind them - and decided that he'd rather use a single term to describe all of the skills as a matter of convenience.cite web
