"How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer" is a 2005 American movie starring America Ferrera. The film is rated R by the MPAA for "sexual content and some language." It was not released on DVD until May 16, 2008.

The plot concerns three generations of Garcia women in a boring Arizona town who have various problems dealing with men. Most of the dialogue is in English with occasional digressions of some old men sitting around talking in Spanish. America Ferrera is the teenage Blanca Garcia, [Coincidentally, her character on "Real Women Have Curves" was Ana Garcia.] Elizabeth Peña is Blanca's mother and Lucy Gallardo is her grandmother.

Richard Roeper recommended the film but criticized its 2-hour running time. Other critics were less forgiving: "There is a very thin line between quiet and tedious, and director/writer Georgina Garcia Riedel crosses the line. The result is a movie that never finds any emotional energy because the plot and pacing are so plodding."
