- Science-Fiction Plus
"Science-Fiction Plus" (with a lower-case subtitle: "preview of the future") was a science fiction magazine published in 1952-53 in Philadelphia by Gernsback Publications, Inc. With a large bedsheet-size format, it began as a monthly but switched to bi-monthly with the June 1953 issue.

Hugo Gernsback andSam Moskowitz , the 68-page magazine sold for 35 cents and ran for eight issues, from November 1952 to December 1953. Not intended as a pulp magazine, it began as a slick printed on quality paper with glossy covers. However, in the course of the run, the paper switched from slick to pulp. The lineup of writers includedRobert Bloch ,Philip José Farmer ,Murray Leinster ,Chad Oliver .Clifford D. Simak ,James H. Schmitz , and the first published story byAnne McCaffrey . Cover illustrations were byFrank R. Paul andAlex Schomburg , with interior illustrations by Paul, Jay Landau, Tom O'Reilly, Charles Hornstein, Muneef Alwan, Seymour Augenbraun and others.The first issue featured novelettes by Gernsback, Farmer and
Donald Howard Menzel , with short stories by John Scott Campbell, Gernsback (as Greno Gashbuck) andOtto Binder , book reviews by Moskowitz and a variety of essays.For historian Mike Ashley, "Science-Fiction Plus" had a "feeling or archaism despite the glossy appearance."
