David Farrell (born 29th October 1969, in Glasgow, Scotland) is a former scottish professional footballer and current assistant manager of
Dundee F.C. .He played as a centeral defender.As a player he was a central defender starting out with English club
Oxford United before moving ontoHibernian where he spent eight years, playing 83 times including an appearance in the League Cup Final defeat toRangers in 1993.In 1996 he moved on to
Partick Thistle where he spent a season before moving on toAirdrie . Davie spent four years with the Diamonds making 45 league starts and moved on again this time toClydebank . Only a month atClydebank and he was on the move again toStranraer .Stranraer was to be his penultimate club. Two years and 49 league starts later he joined his last clubAlbion Rovers . In the season he spent with them he played 18 times scoring once.After his playing career was over Farrell moved into coaching. He was involved with Gretna's youth set up in charge of the under 17's team. When his lifelong friend
Alex Rae was nearing the end of his playing days he joined Davie to lend a helping hand with his Gretna side to get some experience of the coaching world.Alex Rae was appointed manager ofDundee in 2006 and his first pick for his assistant was to be Farrell. The two have now been in charge of Dundee for two seasons and the club have come on leaps and bounds since they joined.A first year finish of 3rd improved greatly on the previous season's 7th and was followed up with last seasons 2nd place finish and this coming season the management team look to go one better and take the club to the
SPL .As a coach he is held in high regard,
