Jonathan D. Lovitz

Jonathan D. Lovitz (born July 19, 1984) is a musical theatre actor currently residing in New York City.

He is a graduate of J. P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs, FL. Jonathan graduated in 2002 at the top of his class and was the only graduate from his year to receive one of the prestigious Silver Knight Awards, presented by the Miami Herald and American Airlines. He received the honor for the establishment of after-school musical theatre education programs targeted at local middle schools with no artistic enrichment programs.

He attended the University of Florida, receiving a BFA in Musical Theatre and graduated both Summa Cum Laude and the Outstanding Scholar of the Fine Arts Class of 2006. While at UF, he served as president of the Florida Players and often served as an ambassador of the College of Fine Arts to university functions [http://www.arts.ufl.edu/theatreanddance/pages/whoweare/studentfeature.asp] . His performance credits while at UF include "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", "Cabaret", "Anything Goes", "Hello, Dolly!", "Big Love", "The Laramie Project", "Am I Blue?", "Day of Absence", "EQUUS", and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He performed with Central Piedmont Summer Theatre in 2004 in productions of "West Side Story", "Chicago", "Honk!", and "Anything Goes".

He has served as the artistic director of the high school division of Next Stop: Broadway summer camp in Coral Springs, Florida. He directed and choreographed a production of "Anything Goes" as well as taught master classes in musical theatre of high school drama students.

Upon graduation from college he played the role of Napthali and the understudy to the Pharaoh in the 2006-2007 national tour of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". This was followed by him playing James in the 2007-2008 national tour of "Jesus Christ Superstar" starring #Ted Neeley and Corey Glover.

He is currently a member of the Actors' Equity Association.
