Woodie's DIY is a chain of large DIY stores in Ireland, selling a wide range of household and building equipment, along with indoor and outdoor furniture and garden products. The full title is "Woodie's DIY and Garden Centres". Woodie's is well known for its bright green and yellow logo and also its slogan "There's no better buy in DIY". Woodies is wholly Irish-owned and is part of Grafton Group plc. Woodie's is similar in style to Atlantic Homecare and British store Texas Homebase.

History

Woodie's first ever store was opened in Walkinstown in 1987. Its success led to the opening of its second store in Glasnevin the following year. As more stores opened throughout Ireland, improvements to new and existing stores were made and Woodie's first Garden Centre store was opened in Cork.fact|date=October 2008 Now all Woodie's stores have Garden Centres. 2006 saw the opening of Woodie's 25th store in Ireland, and as of 2008 Woodies has 27 stores in Ireland, making them the largest chain of DIY stores in the the country.fact|date=October 2008 The Grafton Group, who own Woodie's, also own another Irish DIY chain, Atlantic Homecare.

Grafton Group

Today Grafton are based in Ireland and the UK. The group mainly supply the construction industry, and are the market leader in DIY retailing in Ireland, with Woodie's DIY, and Atlantic Homecare. In Ireland the company produce many building products, such as plastics, windows and mortar. The company became a public limited company in 1987.
