March 23 ,1943 and rescued by the Grupy Szturmowe of theSzare Szeregi three days later during the so-calledArsenal action onMarch 26 . He died onMarch 30 of injuries sustained during interrogations by theGestapo .The extremely brutal
interrogation of Jan Bytnar was conducted bySS Rottenführer Ewald Lange andSS Obersturmführer Herbert Schultz . Both of them were assassinated by Grupy Szturmowe ofSzare Szeregi . SS Obersturmfuehrer Herbert Schultz was shot on May 6th, 1943 bySławomir Maciej Bittner “Maciek” andEugeniusz Kecher “Kolczan”. SS Rottenführer Ewald Lange was shot on May 22nd, 1943 byJerzy Zapadko “Dzik”.Awards
