SNCAC NC 211

The SNCAC NC 211 was a large four engined aircraft for passengers and cargo. The plane was made by SNCAC so there would be a large transport plane after WWII.

Information

The SNCAC NC 211 was powered by four Gnôme-Rhone engines with 1,200 PS each. The propellers were triple bladed and had a diameter of 4 meters each. The plane was divided into two decks the first deck carried 150 cubic meters of cargo the second deck can carry 131 passengers and 7 crew.

Production

Of the fourteen that was planned to be built only four was built. It was too large to even fly a short distance. It couldn't even be fit for military service due to the low amount of cargo it can carry.

History

In July 20 1948 when the first prototype was tested it crashed killing Bertrand and his crew. Even though the second prototype flew on April 9 1949 the aircraft did not enter production and the project was cancelled.
