The German Armed Forces Parachutist Badge (German: "Fallschirmspringerabzeichen" or "Fallschirmschützenabzeichen") is the badge awarded to qualified parachutist and today is designed for wear on the Federal Republic of Germany ("Bundeswehr") military uniform. The badge may be awarded to military service members from allied nations, such as the United States, but authorization and manner of wear is based on that nation's uniform regulations.

Nazi Germany

In the German Army, the Parachutist Badge ("Fallschirmschützenabzeichen") was first established by order of Hermann Göring on November 5, 1936. It was first awarded to all soldiers of the Luftwaffe who finished the parachute training and accomplished the required number of jumps. The badge depicts a diving eagle holding a swastika in the claws and surrounded by a silver wreath. This badge was worn over the left breast pocket.

Federal Republic of Germany

The German Parachutist Badge is still used to day. But with the Nazi party being defeated during World War 2 the Bundeswehr changed the look of the German Parachutist Badge to its current look today. This badge depicts a Parachute falling in the sky surrounded by a ring of oak leaves on wings. This badge is worn over the right breast pocket.

Bundeswehr

In the German Bundeswehr the badge has three levels, as most NATO countries Parachutist Badge do.

* Bronze: 5 Jumps, step I
* Silver: 20 Jumps, step II
* Gold: 50 Jumps, step III
