Bloodless castrator

Bloodless castrator

A bloodless castrator is a tool used in animal husbandry for the easy, rapid castration of livestock such as sheep, cattle and goats.

The device grasps and stretches the scrotum of the animal, cinches the tightened skin with a rubber band, cutting off circulation of blood to the animal's testicles, and then seals the operation with a band of soft metal such as aluminum. After the procedure, the severed testicles can be allowed to drop off naturally, or can be harvested for use in prarie oysters.

A bloodless castrator is unlike an emasculator in that the scrotum and testes remain temporarily attached to the animal after the procedure.
