Quoc Hoc High School

Quoc Hoc High School

Quoc Hoc High School is the first and the oldest High School in Vietnam. It was founded on October 23, 1896 by the decree of Thanh Thai King and was signed by the Indochina General Officer on November 18, 1896.

Location

Quoc Hoc High School located on the bank of the Huong River. It is also the largest High School campus in Vietnam, with a big football field and basketball court. The School has three English Labs, three French Labs, a Science Lab, and computer rooms. The school dormitory can accommodate over 300 students. All of these come from other provinces and remote areas.

Academics

Over the last 112 years, Quoc Hoc High School has always come top 3 in the nation in terms of educational quality besides Chu Van An High School in Hanoi and Le Hong Phong High School in Ho Chi Minh city. This is the result of sheer effort from both the staff and the students.

The school has two types of classes: the specialized and the ordinary. The specialized classes are those that specialize in one particular subject meanwhile ordinary classes do not focus on any particular subject. The students in specialized class have more academic hours than in others. The curriculum is extremely demanding, statistically equivalent to that for University seniors even though juniors. That is why it is more difficult and competitive to be admitted in the specialized classes. The total student in one specialized class is always nearly a half of total student in one ordinary class in order to the student in those former class can easily do experiments. There are over 50 classes at the school with 3 grades (from grade 10 to grade 12)

Accreditation

Quoc Hoc High School was twice awarded the First Level Labour Medal by the President of Vietnam in 2006 and 2007 while Chu Van An – Hanoi and Le Hong Phong – Ho Chi Minh city were awarded it once.
