- Hiemenga Hall
The Spoelhof Center is a part the
Calvin College campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Center was named after presidentJohn Hiemenga . The building broke ground in November of 1961, and is one of the oldest parts of the Knollcrest campus [http://www.calvin.edu/publications/spark/2006/fall/knollcrest.htm "50 Candles for Knollcrest", Spark Magazine, Fall 2006] ] . Hiemenga Hall hosts several departments, such as Classics, Philosophy, Religion, modern languages (Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Korean, Spanish, Japanesse), and history departments [http://www.calvin.edu/map/hiemenga Hiemenga Hall, Calvin College] ] . It, like the rest of the original buildings on campus, was built in the Prairie Style and its gentle stepped slope attempts to match the surrounding hills . The building is connected to the Chapel andSpoelhof Center by a tunnel system.References
