Marcilio Medeiros, artistic name of Marcilio de Medeiros Brito, (Caicó, May 6, 1965) is a brazilian writer.

Biography

He’s a writer, lawyer, BA in arts, M.Sc. in Business Administration, university professor and civil employee.

He was born in 1965 in Caicó, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. When he was a four years old he went to Natal City, Rio Grande do Norte, and when he was six years old he moved to Recife City, State of Pernambuco.

He's son of doctor Pedro Militão Soares de Brito and of Maria do Socorro Medeiros Brito, and grandson of journalist and businessman Pedro Militão Soares de Lucena.

He began to write when he was a teenager and he published his first poems in 1980's in local newspaper. In this time, he edited the literary journals "Vaga-Lume" (Light-Wave) and "Prólogo" (Prologue).

He’s member of União Brasileira de Escritores, secção Pernambuco (Brazilian Union of Writers, Pernambuco section), which he was managing director in two periods: 1997-1998 and 1999-2000. He’s also member of Poetas del Mundo (Chile).He was Executive Coordinator of 1st National Congress of Writers in 1995 in Pernambuco, Brazil.

Books

He is the author of 2 poetry books:
* Anjo Clandestino (Clandestine Angel) 1984, and “A Pulsação Repleta” (The Replete Pulsation) 1998, by the Company Publishing of Pernambuco/Foundation of the Historic and Artistic Patrimony of Pernambuco.
* Poetry anthology: Gente da Gente Fala de Amor (1997), Mormaço e Sargaço (1998) and Prêmio Banese de Literatura (2004).

Awards

* Prêmio Lira e César/Lira e César Award (1995) – poetry – honors, of Academia Pernambucana de Letras/Academy of Letters of Pernambuco.
